  • Description
The TOLD-I:5 is norm-referenced expressive and receptive language assessment. It can identify students who are significantly below peers in oral-language proficiency; can determine specific oral-language strengths and weaknesses; and can document progress in remedial programs. The TOLD-I:5 has six subtests that measure semantics, grammar skills, listening ability, organizing ability, and speaking ability:
    • Sentence Combining - form a compound or complex sentence from two to five simple sentences while retaining the original meaning
    • Picture Vocabulary - understand meaning of spoken two-word phrases
    • Word Ordering - form a complete, correct sentence from a randomly ordered string of words
    • Relational Vocabulary – identify the abstract relationship among a set of spoken words
    • Morphological Comprehension – recognize ungrammatical spoken sentences
    • Multiple Meanings - produce multiple meanings for a spoken word

The TOLD-I:5 was normed on a nationally representative, stratified sample of 1,102 children and adolescents.

    Administration and Scoring
The TOLD-I:5 can be completed in 30–60 minutes. Age-related start points for four of the subtests minimize testing burden. Raw scores are reported as scaled scores and percentile ranks for subtests. Standard scores and percentile ranks are available for four Composites: Semantics and Grammar, Listening, Organizing and Speaking, and Overall Language Ability.

Results of validity studies are included in the manual.

Online Scoring and Report System for 25 users is provided as part of the complete kit.
The test forms include a one-of-a-kind activation code that is required for scoring.
It is very important that the activation code included with the forms is not lost or thrown away as it will not be replaced or refunded.
