The Sound Out Workbook can be used in the classroom or as a self-directed follow-up to independent reading of Sound Out Chapter Books. Activity pages are written with the same controlled vocabulary used in the books to increase readability and ease of use. The exercises are presented in a predictable format for easy accessibility. Each workbook contains story synopses and pre- and post-reading activities to help students build vocabularies, practice comprehension, recall and other basic reading competencies. Additional Sound Out Chapter Books: Sound Out A-2: more practice with the same skills taught in A-1. Sound Out B-1, Sound Out B-2 and Sound Out B-3: Same skills taught in A-1 and A-2 with the addition of practice with consonant blends and digraphs, diphthongs, controlled vowels, and silent letters.
