Results can provide insight into attention disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, and other disorders. The questionnaire covers nine discrete scales: Inhibit, Self-Monitor, Plan/Organize, Shift, Initiate, Task Monitor, Emotional Control, Working Memory, and Organization of Materials.
The BRIEF-A was normed on a nationally representative sample of 1,136 adults, including various diagnostic groups.
Administration and Scoring Administration takes 10-15 minutes, and scoring takes 15-20 minutes. Two broad indexes are derived (Behavioral Regulation and Metacognition), along with an overall score and three validity scales (Negativity, Inconsistency, and Infrequency).
