Set B includes six books that give practice in all the decoding skills found in Set A plus two groups of new skills: three of the books focus on consonant blends and digraphs and three focus on diphthongs, r-controlled vowels, and silent letters. Like Set A, only single-syllable words are included.

Activity pages are written with the same controlled vocabulary used in the books to increase readability and ease of use. The exercises are presented in a predictable format for easy accessibility. Each workbook contains story synopses and pre- and post-reading activities to help students build vocabularies, practice comprehension, recall and other basic reading competencies. Additional Sound Out Chapter Books Sound Out A-1 and Sound Out A-2: focuses on short and long vowels (one-syllable words). Sound Out B-2: more practice with the same skills taught in B-1 Sound Out C-1 and Sound Out C-2: includes skills taught in Levels A and B, and adds inflectional endings, compound words, prefixes and suffixes, and regularly spelled two-syllable words
