Memory Validity Profile (MVP)
Authors: Elizabeth S.Sherman, PhD / Brian L. Brooks, PhD
Description The MVP improves testing outcome confidence by accurately and rapidly assessing whether a childs scores are a valid estimate of his or her ability. The MVP can be used by clinicians to administer cognitive, social-emotional, or neurological assessments to children and youth. The MVP includes two subtests: vital and verbal. Each subtest is divided into two brief item sets, with the second set perceived as progressively more challenging. There are no motor requirements, and the test can be administered to children with motor or visual impairments. The MVP was standardized on a nationally representative sample of 1,221 individuals. It was co-normed with the ChAMP and the MEMRY.
Administration and Scoring The MVP is quick and easy to administer and score. Raw scores are reported as an MVP Visual, MVP Verbal, and MSP Total scores.
Reliability and Validity
- Age adjusted cutoff scores minimized false positives in young children.
- Cutoff scores were calibrated based on binomial probability theory, performance in healthy youth and in clinical samples, and an invalid performance sample.
