The six titles included in Set A-2 focus on the same phonics skills found in Set A-1: short vowels and long vowels. Three books focus on CVC short vowel words, final double consonant and -ck ending, inflectional ending -s (nouns/verbs, voiced/unvoiced); three books focus on open-syllable long vowels, CVCe long vowel words, long vowel pairs (ai, ay, ea, ee, ie, oa).
Each Sound Out title has 6 short chapters followed by a list of high frequency words.
Students with minimal reading skills can read these books from cover-to-cover. They'll have a successful and enjoyable reading experience with lots of decoding practice.

Sound Out Set A-2 Workbook
The Sound Out Workbook can be used in the classroom or as a self-directed follow-up to independent reading of Sound Out Chapter Books. Activity pages are written with the same controlled vocabulary used in the books to increase readability and ease of use. The exercises are presented in a predictable format for easy accessibility. Each workbook contains story synopses and pre- and post-reading activities to help students build vocabularies, practice comprehension, recall and other basic reading competencies. Includes answer key. Reproducible. 8 1/2x11 softcover, 53 pp.

Sound Out B-1 and Sound Out B-2: Same skills taught in A-1 and A-2 with the addition of practice with consonant blends and digraphs, diphthongs, controlled vowels, and silent letters.
Sound Out C-1 and Sound Out C-2: includes skills taught in Levels A and B, and adds inflectional endings, compound words, prefixes and suffixes, and regularly spelled two-syllable words.
