Description The TOSWRF-2 can be used by classroom teachers, special education teachers, reading specialists, school psychologists, and other school professionals to evaluate how accurately and efficiently students can recognize printed words out of context. It can identify students with word-level reading difficulties, help with planning intervention, and assist in monitoring progress.
This new edition of the test expands the upper end of the age range for the test; increases the alternate forms available from two to four; updates administration instructions, including use with deaf and hearing-impaired students; offers revised scoring keys; addresses practice effects; offers a one-minute practice form; and presents expanded evidence for validity. It was co-normed with both the TOSCRF-2 and the TWS-5. The norms are based on a nationally representative sample of 2,429 individuals.
Administration and Scoring Students are presented with rows of unrelated words with no spaces between the words (e.g., dimhowfigblue). They are given 3 minutes to draw lines between as many words as they can recognize (e.g., dim/how/fig/blue).Raw scores, standard scores, percentiles, and age and grade equivalents are provided. While most uses require only a single form administration, you may administer any two forms concurrently to increase reliability.
A single form can be administered in 3 minutes and two forms can be administered in 6 minutes.
