Description The QNST-3R includes updated functional category scores (based on a nationally representative sample), along with revisions and clarifications to the Record Form, administration procedures, and scoring guidelines.
The QNST-3R is an individually administered, empirically based assessment of the development of motor coordination and sensory integration (both of which have been shown to relate to learning as well as to general daily functioning), seen as neurological soft signs (NSS). NSS are minor irregularities that include poor motor coordination, sensory perceptual changes, and difficulty sequencing complex motor tasks. Ongoing NSS are related to problems with learning, neurocognitive perfomance, and general daily functioning.
The QNST-3R Assesses:
motor maturity and developmenttactile and kinesthetic processinggross and fine muscle controlmotor planning and sequencingsense of rate and rhythmspatial organizationvisual and auditory perceptionbalance and vestibular functionattentional control
The Manual's updated literature review includes information about NSS seen in developmental, learning, and behavioral conditions; schizophrenia; and Alzheimer's disease and other age-related cognitive impairments. The expanded functional category scores now cover ages 5 years through geriatrics (80+).
Assessment Tasks Include: Task 1: Figure Recognition and Production Task 2: Palm Form Recognition Task 3: Eye Tracking Task 4: Sound Patterns Task 5: Finger to Nose Task 6: Thumb and Finger Circle Task 7: Rapidly Reversing Repetitive Hand Movements Task 8: Arm and Leg Extension Task 9: Tandem Walk Task 10: Stand on One Leg Task 11: Skipping Task 12: Left-Right Discrimination Task 13: Behavioral Irregularities
NOTE: The QNST-3 forms are not compatible with the QNST-3R.
