Description The TAWF-2 is a single-word expressive language test expressly designed to assess the word-finding ability of adolescents and adults. It can be used to identify individuals who have word-finding problems, plan word-finding intervention, and measure word-finding ability in research studies. The TAWF-2 has four naming sections:
- Picture Naming: Nouns efficiency in naming compound and 1- to 4- syllable target words
- Sentence Completion Naming efficiency in naming words to complete sentences read aloud by the examiner
- Picture Naming: Verbs efficiency in naming present- and past-tense regular and irregular verbs
- Picture Naming: Word Groups efficiency in naming nouns in semantic and phonemic word groups
Administration and Scoring Administration of the TAWF-2 80-item Complete Test takes about 30 minutes. There is also a 28-item Brief Test for use with examinees or in situations where the Complete Test is not feasible. Raw scores are reported as a Word Finding Index standard score. Five informal analyses are also provided to examine types of word finding errors and contribute to interpreting the Word Finding Index.
Reliability and Validity
Cronbachs Alpha value for the Complete Test was 0.88.Test-retest correlation for the Complete Tests was 0.95.A cutoff score of 90 resulted in a sensitivity of 0.93, specificity of 0.82, and a ROC/AUC of 0.94
