Description
SPM provides a complete, integrated, picture of childrens sensory functioning at home, at school, and in the community. Grounded in sensory integration theory, the SPM assesses two higher level integrative functions, praxis (planning and ideas) and social participation, and five sensory systems: visual, auditory, tactile, proprioceptive (body awareness), and vestibular functioning (balance and motion). Descriptive clinical information on processing vulnerabilities is provided for all systems. The SPM is intended to be used by occupational therapists, psychologists, counselors, physical therapists, nurses, and teachers.
Administration and Scoring
Each form can be completed in 15-20 minutes. Scores from the Main Classroom and Home forms are reported as T-scores and percentile ranks for each of the systems and functions listed above, as well an overall T-score; results from the School Environments forms (downloaded from an unlimited-use CD) are interpreted in terms of cutoff scores.
